Popis: An attempt here, some years ago, to devise a single laboratory exercise with a lumped-impedance delay line to bring the students up against ideas on waves and vibrations from a different viewpoint has developed and grown so that a series of CRO displays illustrates every topic in the progression from simple harmonic motion to waves. Parameters and conditions are easily varied, and even nonphysicist mathematicians will spend an interested hour recognizing and adjusting the patterns. The average physics student, new both to the mathematical formalism of the subject and to the apparatus, can profitably invest a lot more time and effort.
