Quality assurance (QA) aims to improve image quality through systematically recording data, conducting training, reviewing medical images, equipment inventory and maintenance, and more. Many of the QA practices began during the analog imaging era and have evolved and improved with digital imaging. Numerous measurable indicators and mechanisms are used to improve performance and image quality. The roles and responsibilities of medical imaging QA span across the imaging department including the radiology technologist, radiologists, medical physicists, administrators, and imaging informatics professionals (IIPs). |
