Comparison and analysis of operational modes of a wind generator on distribution network

Popis: Due to rapid growth of energy demand all over the world and huge concerns about environmental effects, energy utilities are compelled to use renewable energy based power generating sources. Among various technologies, wind turbine generators and photovoltaic systems are most commonly used for distributed generation (DG) applications. In this research paper, the impacts of wind turbine generator on voltage profile and power losses of the local distribution network are studied based on the two different operational modes of the wind turbine. From simulation results it can be clearly seen that there is better improvement in voltage profile and reduction in power losses when wind turbine generator is operated in the voltage control mode. The whole setup is simulated and implemented in ETAP software.
