The UV spectra of some hydrazones and alkylhydrazones were analysed in order to ascertain the contribution of the nitrogen lone pair to the conjugated system. In addition, the effect of steric hindrance on conjugation in dimethylhydrazones was investigated. It was found that the steric hindrance of the hdyrazine methyl groups to the carbonilic methyl group decreases the intensity of the conjugation band. |
