This paper reports on Lime Canyon Wilderness Study Area underlain by Proterozic granite and gneiss that is partly covered by Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Tertiary sedimentary rocks and by Tertiary and Quaternary alluvium. The study area has an identified resource of 44 million tons of subeconomic gypsum and inferred resources of carbonate rock and sand and gravel. The mineral resource potential is low for barite, copper, gold, lead, silver, zinc, and oil and gas throughout the eastern part of the study area. |
