Popis: In this chapter, the rail freight car fleet composition problem is considered and a two-step solution approach proposed. The first step known as the best rail fleet mix problem includes selection of the best freight car type, series, and subseries and it is viewed as a multicriteria decision-making problem. The second step or the best rail fleet size problem takes the outputs from the first step and determines the optimal size of the cars of corresponding types, series, and subseries. The best rail fleet size is viewed as a multiobjective linear programming problem. Both steps are modeled in a fuzzy environment.
