Popis: The constructions and the radiographic characteristics of a kilohertz-range harder pulsed x-ray generator having a hot-cathode diode are described. This generator consisted of the following major components: a thyratron pulser (HRTP-16), a high-voltage pulse transformer, a DC power supply for the filament, and a hot-cathode diode. The ceramic condenser in the thyratron pulser was charged from 8 to 16 kV, and the electric charges in the condenser were discharged to the primary coil of. the transformer. Then the high-voltage pulse of about 100 kV flour the secondary coil was applied to the diode, and harder pulsed x rays were produced. The thyratron pulser was driven by the repetitive electric or light pulses. When the multiple-pulse-type was employed, the x-ray duration was nearly equivalent to the damped oscillation of the tube voltage. In the case where the single-pulse-type was employed, the x-ray pulse width had a value of about 300 ns. The repetition rate was controlled by the frequency of the driving pulse.
