Popis: A wet oxidation method was employed to decompose the dechlorinated PVC (DPVC) obtained by a chemical reaction in the system of KOH–polyethylene glycol–tetrahydrofuran. The DPVC was decomposed to water-soluble organic compounds (WSOCs) without formation of CO 2 by wet oxidation at 100 °C. The yield of the WSOCs increased with increasing O 2 pressure, and the wet oxidation at 100 °C for 1 h with 8 MPa of O 2 gave the highest yield of the WSOCs (82% C). The WSOCs mainly consisted of formic acid and industrially important dibasic acids such as fumaric and maleic acid. At high temperatures, over 150 °C, the amount of WSOCs decreased and CO 2 was preferentially formed.
