Popis: Prestack processing skills are essential in full-waveform inversion (FWI). In practical applications, without careful guidance and continuous monitoring of intermediate data and model updates, the output of the inversion process can diverge and produce nongeologic output models and inversion artifacts. A synthetic case study demonstrates challenges in real-life FWI projects. The FWI workflow is described in terms used by seismic processors. Detailed understanding of the input data set and the selection of starting models, combined with creative analysis tools and quality-control workflows, are paramount for a successful inversion project.
