12 monounsaturated alcohols with the double bond in the Z-configuration, and 12 corresponding aldehydes, were tested on male antennae of 30 species by means of the electroantennograph (EAG). The aldehydes were tested on another 14 species, and alcohols on a further 3. For 25 of the species investigated, this is the first information on their sex pheromone systems with respect to such compounds. For the other species, these are the first EAG studies with monounsaturated alcohols and aldehydes, although some data about sex pheromones or attractants are already available. |
