Popis: | The mechanical and physical properties of volcanic tuffs from central Anatolian province were investigated for use as admixtures in pozzolanic cement. Five different cement mortar specimens were prepared by replacing cement with volcanic tuff in ratios of 0, 15, 25, 35 and 45% by mass. The flexural and compressive strengths of the specimens were determined at the ages of 7, 28 and 56 d. The effects of the tuff replacement ratio on workability, setting time and volume expansion were also examined. Based on the results, it was concluded that central Anatolian volcanic tuff has pozzolanic activity and is suitable for use as an alternative adherent material in the cement industry. |
