Popis: Initiation systems of the type polystyryl aluminium-dicyclohexyl peroxydicarbonate or di-tert-butylperoxide help in the synthesis of the PS-PMMA block copolymers by the radical mechanism of polymerization at temperatures below thermal breakdown of the peroxide (253–313 K). It is shown that the necessary condition for the effective development of the process is the presence of an electron donor compound, in particular, pyridine. The function of the latter consists in the regulation of the reaction rate between the components of the initiating system and also in the suppression of the chain transfer reaction. The conditions are formulated allowing one to influence in a directed way the M and strucutre of block copolymers of two-block structure formed in the system as a result of dominating chain termination by way of disproportionation and the chain transfer reaction or the three-block PS-PMMA-PS structure formed as a result of the recombination mechanism of chain termination.
