Popis: | This article looks at the changes the dance kanghelari underwent in the village of Papadatai in the district of Epeiros and asks whether the characteristics that distinguish and highlight it in performance were momentary improvisations of a dance leader, which were later incorporated into the dance, or whether they served some other social functions, always considering the social and cultural structure of the village and its needs. Kangheli(on) is the Epeirotic word for multiple turns and bends in a road; the many turns and folds of the dance gave it the name kanghelari(on).
