Popis:	trans-1,3-Dithiane 1,3-dioxide, prepared by stereoselective oxidation of 1,3-dithiane has been found to be thermodynamically more stable than the cis-isomer by equilibration studies using N2O4 and has been found to undergo highly selective (20 : 1) aldol type reactions with benzaldehyde.
