Results of studies of the radiation, scintillation, and optical characteristics of new composite and mixed materials, hybrid glasses, and polystyrene-based block and molded scintillators are described. The scintillation and radiation properties of hybrid glasses appreciably differ from the corresponding characteristics of both composite and homogeneous scintillators. Block scintillators based on polystyrene with a luminescence peak close to 430 nm, a light yield up to 58% that of anthracene, and main fluorescence decay times near 1.8 ns, as well as scintillators with luminescence peaks between 470 and 490 nm, light yields of up to 66%, and main fluorescence decay times of 9–13 ns were obtained. |
