Popis: | The influence of the polarization dependence of a fluorinated polyimide waveguide on the performances of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) switch was demonstrated. The electrical power consumption of the MZI switch depended on the polarization of an incident light. This polarization dependence induced the degradation of the extinction ratio of the MZI switch. These results reflected the polarization dependence of the temperature dependence of therefractive index of the fluorinated polyimide with residual stress on a silicon substrate. The use of a polyimide plate as a waveguide substrate, which induced the uniform thermal expansion of the film, could greatly improve the polarization dependence of the electrical power consumption and the extinction ratio. |
