Popis:	At the present time escin (I) is used as a drug in a number of combined preparations of domestic and foreign manufacture: esflazid (USSR), escusan (German Democratic Republic), anavenol (Czechoslovakia), reparil (Fedral Republic of Germany), etc. The drugs exhibit venotoning and antithrombotic effects, as well as a certain anti-inflammatory action. The beginning of the study of I, as well as other saponins, was associated with the discovery of the hemolytic action of the substances.
