Popis: | The vacuum structure of QCD in an external chromo-electric field is investigated within the continuum space-time formulation of perturbative QCD and the extended NambuJona-Lasinio model, used as a low-energy approximation of QCD. We show that the density of dynamical quark-antiquark pairs decreases with increasing external chromoelectric field strength. These results are compared with recent numerical simulations of lattice QCD which indicate restoration of chiral symmetry in the vicinity of a static color |
