Strong isotope effect on the intermolecular exchange integral of excited triplet-state dimers

Popis: High-resolution phosphorescence—microwave double resonance (PMDR) and optically detected magnetic resonance techniques have yielded two independent measurements of the nearest-neighbor excited-state exchange matrix element in dimers of 1,2,4,5-tetrachlorobenzene. Both experiments yield a value (0.07 cm −1 ) smaller than the value reported for exciton systems (0.34 cm −1 ), indicating a strong violation of the ideal mixed crystal concept.
