Popis: The effect of aerial application parameters on the deposition of water-based sprays on mid-season cotton canopies was evaluated in three field studies. Fluorescent dye tracer spray deposits were measured on cotton leaves and three different types of artificial samplers at the top and midway down in the plant canopy, and on ground-cover sheets between the cotton rows. Over 400 samples collected over three years provided sufficient data to determine the relationship of spray mixture rate, droplet size, droplet density, temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed to active spray ingredient deposition on the crop canopy. These studies show that droplet spectra and spray rate can be modified or adjusted by the applicator to improve spray deposition and distribution in broadleaf row crop canopies. Environmental factors shown to adversely influence deposition may be avoided by spray applicators to maintain deposition efficiency.
