Popis:	An apparatus is described for the measurement of magnetic anisotropies of single crystals by the maximum torque method. It has an accuracy of 0.5%. The apparatus features a rugged design and provision for working in a controlled atmosphere. Two methods of calibration are discussed and experimental procedures are described. The diamagnetic anisotropy (χ1−χ2) of naphthalene is reported to be 90.6±0.05×10−6 cgs units per mole.
