From modern prospects, demand-side management is a pivotal source for consumers and for energy providers in altering the load profile. Demand-side management results in a reduction of the new establishment of generators over energy-side providers. In this paper, the load profile is reshaped on residential, commercial, and industrial loads using the modified genetic algorithm, and the same strategy is applied to unit commitment (UC). The optimization problem related to UC is solved using a hybrid method for achieving optimal solution between two contradictory objectives by maintaining the system constraints. The hybrid method is the amalgamation of the non-dominant sorting genetic algorithm –ii (NSGA-II) and the population variant differential evolution (PVDE) algorithm. The potential of the proposed hybrid method is tested on IEEE 39 bus system with 10 thermal units. The outcome of the proposed method emphasizes a better reduction in cost and emission values of UC in comparison with the existing literature methods. |
