Popis: | Aorto-iliac peripheral arterial disease is a chronic atherosclerotic disease that leads to progressive arterial lumen reduction of abdominal aorta and iliac arteries, and can result in lower limb claudication or chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI). The aorto-iliac involvement is more frequent in male gender, younger patients, and smokers, and it sometimes involves the young to middle-age female smokers. Modification of risk factors, exercise rehabilitation, and antiplatelet therapy are the first line approach in claudicants, while main clinical indication for procedural treatment is the CLTI (rest pain or trophic lesions). Endovascular procedure consists in stenting or stent-grafting (single, kissing technique, reconstruction of aortic bifurcation). The surgery includes aorto-(bi)iliac bypass/iliac bypass, aorto-bifemoral bypass, extra-anatomic revascularization (femoro-femoral or axillo-femoral bypass). |
