Paleomonoctenus patriciae, new genus and species of Diprionidae, is described from the Uppermost Oligocene of Aix-en-Provence (France). Although we provisionally attribute it to the subfamily Monocteninae, some of its characters are proper to Diprioninae, suggesting the necessity of a phylogenetic analysis of the family. The possible affinities of Pteronus prodigus Brues, 1908, unique putative other fossil Diprionidae already described, are discussed. Mioarge azari, new genus and species of Argidae, is described from the Upper Miocene of Mont-Charay (France). It looks more similar to the recent East Palaearctic genus Asiarge than to the European genus Arge. Another Upper Miocene undetermined argine genus and species is described. Cenocimbex menatensis gen. n., sp. n., oldest known Cimbicidae, is described from the Paleocene of Menat (France). Acantholyda grangeoni Riou, 1999, Upper Miocene Pamphiliidae, is redescribed and synonymized with the recent Acantholyda erythrocephala (Linne, 1758) syn. n. The commented lists of other fossil taxa attributed to the Diprionidae, Argidae, Pamphiliidae, and Cimbicidae are given. |
