Popis: | The foraging activity of ants in a pasture inhabited by Solenopsis invicta Buren was investigated using pitfall traps and attractive baits. S. invicta and Lasius neoniger (Emery) were the most abundant and frequently collected species of ants. Correlation and multiple covariance analyses indicate that S. invicta is negatively associated with L. neoniger. Ant species were found to have localized population distributions that overlap slightly. S. invicta appeared to have a slight impact (0.1 > P > 0.05) on the number of ant species that occurred in the pasture. |
