Popis: By investigating static volt ampere characteristics of a composite (normal + superconducting) material, one can reveal many interesting features of thermal environments in the liquid helium coolant. The authors describe their experiments to reproduce terminal characteristics of a small piece of the conductor, placed in isothermal conditions and, in particular, to observe otherwise unstable portions of characteristics with the negative slope. They discuss different aspects of the problem of cryostatic stabilization paying particular attention to the influence of boiling transition in liquid helium and to the temperature variation of resistivity of the normal stabilizer on the safety of the conductor.
