Popis: | This article aims to open up the reflection about the productive and professional relationship between the writer Rafael Delgado (1853-1914) and the publisher Victoriano Agüeros (1854-1911), which remained for over two decades. From a historiographical perspective, I will examine the building process around the literary figure of the novelist from Veracruz, as well as the way his name became a sort of brand, which was skillfully promoted and used by Agüeros within his two most relevant projects: the catholic newspaper El Tiempo (1883-1912), including its various literary weeklies, and the Biblioteca de Autores Mexicanos (1896-1910), an ambitious collection of seventy-seven volumes in which the editor reflected his personal conception of the canon from Mexican literature. I’m also exploring some aspects related to editorial production, as well as selected commercial strategies developed by the publisher from Guerrero and the kind of audience he intended to reach with his publishings. |
