Popis: | AIT is a listening treatment that has recently been introduced into the United States. Initial results in the application of this technique with individuals with autism and other disorders have been encouraging in most cases. Further research to improve our understanding of AIT continues to be necessary. It is of the utmost importance that the training and certification of practitioners be monitored more closely, and that service provision be constant from practitioner to practitioner. These and other issues will need to be examined in the upcoming months and years as we continue to learn more about AIT: a new listening treatment that has an impact on hearing and communication and demands and deserves the attention of our professions. |
