Hole burning with chelate complexes of quinizarin in alcohol glasses

Popis: | This paper reports about rare-earth metal ion (M 3+ ) chelate complexes of the dye molecule quinizarin which are well suited for hole-burning spectroscopy in alcohol glasses. Analyzing both, optical absorption and NMR spectra, information about the structure of the chelate complexes is obtained. A discussion of the possible photochemical reactions responsible for the hole-burning effect will be given. The measured line widths of various ion complexes in an ethanol/methanol glass show rather different values and temperature dependences and will be discussed in terms of ligand-to-metal energy-transfer processes |
