Popis: Auger electron spectroscopy has been used to characterize the surface composition and the oxide thickness for electrolytically polished Fe 50%/Ni 50% iron-nickel alloy specimens that had been given one of the following surface treatments: (1) ultrasonic cleaning in an organic solvent, (2) exposure to an argon plasma, (3) immersion in boiling 15% H2O2, or (4) exposure to an O2 plasma. The results show that the oxide thickness increased in the following order: solvent cleaned
