Different warship ICCP systems have very different performances in relation to protection profiles and current outputs, particularly in response to under way conditions and paint damage. Important factors and design features are discussed in the context of designing ICCP configurations that provide the optimum number and location of zones, anodes and controlling reference electrodes. The requirement for a Performance Assessment Protocol is identified. A prescriptive Code of Practice for the design and delivery of Warship ICCP Systems is proposed, termed MISAD — Methodolog for ICCP System Analysis and Design. Its six Stages are: Analysis; Options Shortlisting; Options Evaluation; System Specification; Component Specification; and System Verification. The Methodology would be underpinned by Physical Scale Modelling, which provides a validated experimental tool for system design and evaluation. |
