An Adaptive Digital PID (AD-PID) controller scheme is presented in this paper in order to improve the dynamic performance of power converters. The controller adaptively adjusts the integral constant ( K i ) and the proportional constant ( K p ) based on the amount of change in the error signal caused by the load transient and following a control law. The AD-PID controller results in dynamic output voltage deviation reduction and in shorter settling time. The AD-PID controller concept and architecture and its proposed control law are presented in this paper and verified by experimental results obtained from a proof-of-concept experimental prototype. |
