Popis: The principle of reciprocity applied to all members of the kin community in the Inca Realm. When some of its adult males were carrying out their labor service to the state, others would carry out their farm work. The family had to compensate for services received with the labor of equal value. The surplus emanating from the labor service of the subjects was appropriated by the state, which constructed its model of redistribution imitating the reciprocity of the community and implying that it was the same thing. In fact, an imbalance in favor of the Inca state remained with regard to the community. The Spanish colonial economy was based on the underpayment of Indian labor, while the Incas provided the full upkeep of labor service workers.
