Popis: The authors determined the elasticity modulus, tensile elongation and double refraction of polycaproamide fibers of the following three types: untreated highly oriented, treated with an aqueous (KI+I2) solution, and soaked in water. It was established that soaking in water has practically no effect on the properties studied. The iodide treatment produces changes in the linear dimensions of polycaproamide fibers, in their strength and deformation characteristics and in their double refraction index. These changes are only weakly dependent on the transformation in the crystalline regions, being associated mainly with the misorientation produced in the amorphouse regions of the fiber by the iodide treatment. The magnitude of cos2Θ (Θ=orientation angle of a chain segment) in the amorphous regions of untreated and iodide-treated fibers was estimated.
