VESICAL ARTERIOGRAPHY: AN ADJUNCT TO STAGING OF BLADDER TUMOURS1

Popis:	SUMMARY The use of vesical arteriography in conjunction with pelvic pneumography and air cystography is described and recommended as an additional parameter to current methods of staging bladder tumours. The study is unique in that 26 of 30 patients underwent subsequent open surgery thereby providing an accurate correlation of the arteriographic and histopathological findings. An overall accuracy of 95.5 per cent. was found with triple contrast arteriography as compared with 22.7 per cent. by transurethral biopsy of the same vesical lesions. There were no significant complications in the series. The procedure appears to have a definite place in the total assessment of patients with vesical neoplasms.
