Various novel dehydration techniques were implemented to investigate the amorphous layer that developes at the water-glass interface in the event of corrosion of a radioactive waste confinement glass by an aqueous solution. The primary objective was to observe a texture and structure representative of the gel state as it occurs in the aqueous medium. During previous work, no special precautions were taken when dehydrating this layer, and structural breakdown was unavoidable. |
