| Popis: | A series of 22 5-acetamido and 5-amino barbituric acids as well as corresponding thiobarbiturates and N-methylated derivatives have been prepared for hypnotic activity evaluation. From comparative studies of their infrared spectra, various frequencies have been ascribed to the acetamido and amino groups at C-5 position. S-Alkylation resulted in the formation of unstable thioethers which hydrolyzed to give corresponding barbituric acids and mercaptans. |
