Popis: | Thidiazuron (TDZ) is a substituted phenylurea first synthesized in 1967 by the Schering Corporation in Germany. Compared to other plant growth regulators, TDZ is a powerful and potent synthetic growth regulator, leading to a wide array of in vitro and in vivo applications in plants including prevention of leaf yellowing, enhanced photosynthetic activity, breaking of bud dormancy, fruit ripening, as well as proliferation of adventitious shoots, callus production, and induction of somatic embryogenesis. Despite the diversity of effects attributed to TDZ, its application and mode of action for induction of in vitro morphogenesis in plants are not well understood. Thus, this review aims to summarize current understandings for TDZ during in vitro morphogenesis in order to better understand the potential applications of TDZ for induction of in vitro morphogenesis and organogenesis. |
