Popis: Pain after laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair can be divided into acute, occurring immediately after the repair in the distribution of a named nerve, or chronic, pain lasting more than 90 days after repair. The first is handled by immediate surgical intervention, while the second is managed conservatively and is treated aggressively only if it does not abate. Despite knowledge of anatomy and perfection of all the proper techniques, chronic pain can develop in postoperative patients. This chapter deals with the causes, treatments, and ways of preventing chronic pain following posterior inguinal hernia repair.
