Popis: | The Drainage Services Department has developed a computer system to automatically produce rainfall contour maps with real-time 5-minute rainfall data from the Hong Kong Observatory. These contour maps will enable the drainage engineers to qualitatively estimate the possible flooding locations and impacts caused by the rainstorm. The system used Kriging method in the interpolation of rainfall values at locations between the rain gauge stations. Presented in this paper are a brief description of the real-time rainfall data in Hong Kong, Kriging analysis, the proposed theoretical semi-variogram model, the contouring program, and some discussions on the limitations of the approach. |
