Popis: The suspension separating process can be intensified by using counterswirling flows. A design of a vortex hydraulic separator (VHS) for separating suspensions in counterswirling flows is proposed. A procedure for calculating the throughout and separating capacity of the VHS is developed using computer modeling and full-scale experimental data. The advantages of VHS over traditional hydrocyclones with respect to hydraulic resistance and separation capacity are shown.
