Popis: In this paper, we propose an adaptive beaconing method to improve communication performance in a system that enables pedestrians to communicate with IEEE 802.11ad access points (APs) equipped in vehicles passing by pedestrians. This method consists of adjusting beacon transmission intervals based on the speed of vehicles and asynchronous beacon transmission. The proposed method can increase communication time because pedestrians can receive beacons earlier and have opportunities to communicate with vehicle APs. Additionally, shifting beacon transmission timing to prevent overlapping yields an increase in vehicle APs that pedestrians can connect to. Thus, the proposed method can improve communication performance. As a result of quantitative evaluation, throughput is increased by 495%, and communication break time is decreased by 85% compared to a conventional method when the speed of vehicles $V$ is 80 km/h, and the number of passing vehicles $F$ is 20 units/10 s.
