Popis: A prototype implementation of spatial filtering based on a far-field plane wave incident on an equally spaced linear microphone array is described in this work. A 32-element linear sensor array is considered for the implementation task, which is accomplished using delay and sum method that involves combining delayed signals from each sensor of the array. The prototype is implemented for wideband signals in the frequency range 300 Hz to 3400 Hz. The inter element spacing between the array elements is chosen to be less than half the wave-length corresponding to the maximum frequency, in order to avoid grating lobes. The signals captured by the microphone array are preamplified and recorded on to a storage device via an audio interface. Parameters like beampattern, array factor have been analyzed by varying the number of sensors. Finally, the performance of the developed prototype on multiple sources has been evaluated and the results show that the prototype can be effectively used for spatial filtering.
