Popis: Comparative studies on the control of the alfalfa weevil ( Hypera postica (Gyllenhal) were conducted during 1960 and 1961. Treatments were applied both in the spring and in the fall using granules and spray formulations. Heptachlor gave good control when applied in the fall or spring, at the rates of 0.5 or 1.0 lb. per acre as granules or sprays. Similar results were obtained with dieldrin applied at the same rates, but weevil control was not quite as good. Several organic phosphate spray formulations, applied in the spring, provided Some protection against the alfalfa weevil, but control was not satisfactory.
