Popis: We describe a ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) spatial light modulator (SLM) which is electronically addressed via a VLSI CMOS silicon backplane. Designed specifically for use in a miniature colour display system, the device nevertheless exhibits a specification which is suitable for many non-display applications.
