Transfort of low-energy ions through a periodic quadrupole channel

Popis: The transport of 40 keV He+ ion beams through a periodic focusing channel is investigated. The transport section consists of four parallel channels of 29 electrostatic quadrupole elements, which are arranged in a periodic focusing lattice. The radius of the individual channels is 3 mm, while the period length of this small transport system is 35 mm. The injected current is changed from 1 to 16 mA per beam, while the zero-current phase advance per cell μ0 is varied from 43° to 114°. No beam loss is observed for injected currents upto 7 mA per beam in the range of 60°
