Popis: | Some years ago, the Dutch police introduced an affirmative action program for ethnic minorities, thus introducing groups where officers with different ethnic background work together, the so‐called multiethnic groups. American research points out that minorities in multi‐ethnic work groups often face special problems and as a result perform less well and feel less well than their majority colleagues. The present research examined whether the same takes place in multi‐ethnic groups in the Dutch police. It was found that there are indeed special problems for minority officers, but that these do not seem to have a negative effect on performance and well‐being. Minority officers perform as well as equally experienced majority colleagues, and feel as well too. Still, minority officers are confronted with discrimination, and seem to be less easily accepted when they come in under the affirmative action program.
