Effect of different molecular weight fractions of aquatic humus on uptake of cadmium in the green alga Selenastrum capricornutum Printz, has been radiometrically studied, using Cd-109 tracer. Separation of natural humic water (HW) into four different molecular weight fractions F1, F2, F3 and F4 with conventional molecular weight >105, (104−105), (103−104) and < 103, respectively., has been performed by ultra membrane filtration. The logarithm of accumulated radioactivity of Cd-109 was found to be linearly proportional to logarithm of wet biomass of alga. Uptake and concentration factor of Cd were found to increase in order HW |
