Popis: The aim of this article is to describe one aspect of the lived experience of well-being that shows two interconnected components of being at home: the way people feel about the places and spaces in which they live and the way people feel about themselves. The results of this hermeneutic phenomenological research are woven together with results from research on home care drawn from the literature, thereby showing that one body of research can inform the other. Drawing from this evidence base, it is apparent that practitioners who provide care in the home according to a narrow view of what “home” entails run the risk of undermining the well-being experience of the recipient of care and of his or her family.
