Popis: In the immediate future the Arctic Health Research Center will be examining the adaptability of villages to multi-family dwellings. While such units were traditional among Alaskan Aleuts, they are now found only in the larger communities in the State. Multifamily units could reduce heating costs as well as the costs associated with the installation of water and sewer lines. This could result in more economical construction and would do much to stretch the limited money to create a healthier environment for more Native Alaskans. Each of these investigations will have to be concluded by a sociological study of acceptance by the Natfve groups. The method of doing to rather than doing with is no longer tolerated by the various village councils and interest groups. Too much time and money has been wasted by the first method. These are in such short supply that we must minimize our mistakes as investigators or implimenters.
